Books
I have all these books and many more, so I have tried to give an appraisal of the ones worth having in 2020 though I avidly collected anything 928 related whenever published or found.

For a couple of quid its worth adding to your collection.
Don't be put off. Colour pictures of all models and some good detail with tables a little bit like a top trumps deck of information.
928 model coverage is good with pictures of UK cars from 1979, 1988 and 1995 although the author dismisses the 928 as a footnote in the companys evolution.

If you wanted to see how the 928 came about then its well worth it.
None on on Amazon at the moment!
Expensive and hard to find in good condition. It contains pictures of prototypes, test information and design history which simply dont exist anywhere else.

Comparisons between the Porsche 924, 928 944, 968
Contemporary book which was important to the decision making process between the 944 968 and 928 for me ☺.
Porsche has a true sporting pedigree. The 924 was the first of a new generation of front-engined models that would unleash the V8-engined 928, see the 924 evolve into the 944, and eventually deliver the 968. They spurned the rear-engined layout of the 911, but each model has proved worthy of the Porsche name, with the familiar combination of exquisite looks, advanced engineering, peerless build quality and towering performance. Here, David Vivian describes the front-engined models, including their background and development, driving impressions, technical details and competition history. Complemented by photographs of each model, this book should be of interest to devotees of the sporting masterpieces from Zuffenhausen. David Vivian is familiar with all of today's sporting supercars, having been road test editor of "Autocar & Motor" for many years. A full time writer, he contributes regularly to the motoring press, and his books include "Porsche 911 - The Complete Story" in the Crowood AutoClassics series.

Porsche 928 Gts (Italian)
This book is printed in the same size as the owners manual and contains 70 pages of 928 GTS specific information. My copy is in English. Check the language before ordering. Lots of great detailed pictures of model year 92 GTS cars and interiors. There is a paint chart of dubious colour reproduction quality in the last couple of pages.

Autoritative 190 pages - Haynes Classic Makes Series
This hardback has 190 pages of which 10 or so are very interesting Porsche 928 detail. A very good read for a Porsche 928 fan. Theres a picture too of the 924 Carrera GT Le Mans car the author drove in 1980. The only picture of it I have ever seen. The UK author, Tony Dron is a well known racing driver and jounalist and former Porsche 928 racer.
Porsche has become one of the most evocative names in motoring history. With a tradition of engineering excellence and innovation, Porsche has developed into a brand synonymous with cutting-edge technology, and the production of stylish, high-performance cars of unrivalled reliability and build quality. The Porsche 911 is undeniably amongst the greatest sports cars of all time. Here is the full, illustrated model-by-model story of Porsche cars, encompassing such classics as the 356, the seminal 911, the 924, 944, 928 and Boxster.

Transaxle and Weissach Axle
More than 30 pages about the Porsche 928 along with the other transaxle cars of the time from Porsche. Includes some great pictures of them all.
The story of Porsche's front-engined, water-cooled transaxle cars, Porsche 924/928/944/968 contains interviews with several of Porsche's key engineers, designers and modellers who worked on the car in period. The book outlines the design processes and development work, detailing each model, and contains sections on the motor sport achievements of each model, as well as owners' views of their cars.
